Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has lost his bid to return to the Red Chamber.
Akpabio, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, representing the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, lost his reelection bid to the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Chris Ekpenyong.
Ekpeyong polled 136,373 votes to defeat Akpabio who secured 67,487 votes in Saturday’s election.
