The Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has denied social media reports that the Federal Government has offered N100 billion to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in order to stop kidnapping across the country.
Adamu denied the reports after a two-hour closed door session with senators on the persistent insecurity in Nigeria.
Adamu, while addressing newsmen after the closed session, said there was no such agreement between MACBAN and the Federal Government.
According to him: “There was nothing like payment of N100 billion to herdsmen to stop kidnapping.
“The information is just on social media.
“There was no meeting like that.”
Adamu also said the Senate has promised to assist the Police in all ramifications in order to stop kidnapping across the country.
He, however, said no ultimatum was given to the Police to put an end to the growing insecurity.
