Free-agent striker, Shola Ameobi, is unlikely to earn a contract with Bolton, manager Neil Lennon has confirmed.
The ex-Newcastle forward, 34, was brought to Wanderers earlier this month as Lennon seeks to add another attacking option to his squad.
However, the Northern Irishman has little wriggle room in terms of finances and feels Ameobi is too similar to current strikers Emile Heskey and Gary Madine.
“You want to get it right,” Lennon said of his striker search. “We felt Shola was similar to Emile and Gary. Although he did very, very good, finances are tight here so we want to make sure we’re spending the money on the right player.”
