The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has said that three influential persons from Borno State are under police watch for alleged links to dreaded sect, Boko Haram.
The three influential men, based on recent revelations, are a former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff; and Senators Ahmed Zanna and Ali Ndume.
Abubakar, who spoke with newsmen after declaring open a conference of departmental police heads, said: “We cannot take anybody to court without ample evidence.
“Investigators need evidence to pursue their cases.
“So we need assistance.
“This is one of the many reasons for this conference today.”
