Presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s latest position on how to resolve the Boko Haram insurgency as that of a confused man.
Abati, in his reaction to the call by Obasanjo that the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan administration should adopt the carrot and stick approach in resolving the Boko Haram issue, said that the position of the former president had changed so many times since the insurgency started.
In his reaction to the interview granted to the CNN by Obasanjo, Abati, in five different posts on his Twitter page, said the former president’s position amounted to “contradiction and confusion writ large.”
In another post, Abati said the Jonathan administration had shown creativity and purposefulness in the handling of the Boko Haram challenge.
Below are the five posts by Abati:
Reuben Abati @abati1990 FYI: Jonathan administration has shown creativity & purposefulness in handling the BH challenge. Hence, the progress we witness.
Reuben Abati @abati1990 FYI: One report says OBJ is recommending a multifaceted approach to Boko Haram. This govt certainly doesn’t need a lecture on that!

Reuben Abati @abati1990 FYI: In Jan.2013, OBJ tells CNN Govt shd adopt a carrot and stick approach to Boko Haram. Genocide & dialogue? Where exactly does he stand?
Reuben Abati @abati1990 FYI: In Nov. 2012 in Warri, fmr Prez. Obasanjo accused federal govt of being soft on Boko Haram. He recommended the Odi solution: genocide.
