Members of the dreaded sect, Boko Haram, on Sunday killed the District Head of Geidam, Yobe State, Alhaji Mustapha Geidam, and an Islamic cleric, Sheik Saina Alhaji Ajiya, in Konduga, near Maiduguri, Borno State.
The Commissioner, Yobe State Police Command, Tanko Lawan, confirmed the killing of Geidam.
Lawan said Geidam was in front of his house relaxing when the armed members of Boko Haram struck.
Lawan said the sect had earlier sent Geidam a letter warning him of the impending attack.
The letter said Geidam had been marked for killing.
Geidam was the Protocoal Officer to Senator Bukar Ibrahim before he ascended the throne.
The Commissioner, Borno State Police Command, speaking through the command’s spokesman, Samuel Tizhe, also confirmed the death of Ajiya, whose age was put at 60.
Ajiya was said to have been shot several times by members of Boko Haram who forced their way into his house.
This was in the presence of members of his family.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Director of Finance and Administration in the Ministry of Information, Pastor Isua Kiforo, who was shot in error by the military while trying to gain access to the state Government House has been reported dead.
Kiforo, who had been on admission since he was shot based on the assumption that he was a member of Boko Haram on a suicide mission to bomb the Government House, died yesterday.
The Kaduna State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Saidu Adamu, said on Sunday that Kiforo died at the 44 Military Reference Hospital.
Kiforo was a pastor of the Living Faith Church, Kakuri and Barnawa.
He hailed from Zangon-Kataf in Southern Kaduna.
He is to be buried on Thursday.
