The leadership of the Igbo Community Association in Adamawa State on Sunday commended Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow and Nigerian Army for chasing away Boko Haram from the state.
The outgone President General of the ICA, Chief Ofor Eze Nwachukwu, said this in his handing over text addressed to hundreds of Ndigbo, who witnessed the general election held in Jimeta-Yola.
Nwachukwu begged Governor Bindow to consider the plights of the Igbo in all the recaptured communities of Gombi, Michika, Mubi, Madagali, Maiha and Hong LGAs as they have lost millions of Naira as a result of the Boko Haram attacks.
According to him, the election had suffered several postponements since 2010 due to one reason or the other.
He said the success of the election was one of his happiest moments in life.
The election, which was peacefully conducted amidst joy, delegates representing the 21 LGAs of the state certified the exercise to be the most free and fair ever conducted.
In his acceptance speech after the swearing-in by Barrister Godwin Igwe, the new President General of the Association, Fedelis Umeh, said he was happy to see the turn out of the delegates representing every Igbo state in the country.
Umeh said this has humbled him.
He promised to carry everybody along for the peace and progress of the Union.
Others who were sworn-in included Emmanuel Nwaunzo as the Vice President, Kanu Odumu became the Secretary, the post of the Treasurer went to Emmanuel Nwaoneyeigbo, while the post of Public Relations Officer and Social Welfare went to Basil Okoro and Odera Ama respectively.
