The Ogbomoso-based Crown FC players have promised to be at their best when they face the table toppers, Remo Stars FC in the Bet9ja Nigeria National League Match Day 8 in another south-west derby.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Ajilete Boys are poised for a showdown with the Sky Blue Stars in a top of the table clash on Wednesday at the Soun of Ogbomosho Stadium.
The Fatai Osho-tutored Sky Blue lads currently sit atop the table of the Southern Conference B2 after a blistering form in the 2017/2018 Bet9ja NNL with 14 points from seven matches.
Remo Stars has won four matches, drew two and lost one and leading second placed Crown FC on a goal difference.
The team was, however, unlucky in their last home match against Nnewi United FC as they drew 2-2 in Sagamu.
Crown FC on its part will want to consolidate on their 1-1 away draw in a southern conference derby against their neighbours, Osun United FC.
Oladunni Oyekale-tutored boys also share same point with Remo Stars on 14 points from seven matches, having won four, drew two and lose one but with a goal short of Remo Stars.
Having drawn with Osun United FC 1-1 at the Osogbo Township Stadium last weekend, the Media Officer of the team, Tunji Alabi, said that the spirit of the boys were high.
Alabi said: “The team spirit is very high in the camp and it is believed that they will come out stronger and better to demolish Remo Stars.
“Recall that they drew their last home match against Nnewi United FC 2-2 in Sagamu. Nonetheless, we expect clash of the titans which promises to be tactically entertaining, highly explosive and technically competitive.
“It will be an epoch moment on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Group B2 league champions clash to decide the sole leader of the group.
“Crown FC supporters, fans and football enthusiasts will troop out en masse to cheer their darling Ajilete Warriors to victory in the Southwest derby.”
Oyekale told NAN that he was optimistic of victory against the Osho-led team banking the team’s highest goal scorer to do the magic.
He said: “Remo Stars FC is a good side and has been doing well this season. I’m happy my boys keep improving daily and I’m confident we will win the game convincingly by God’s grace.
“We are determined to play our best and we believe God will crown our efforts with victory.”
The highest goal scorer of the team, Barnabas Daniel, promised to score during the match as a birthday present to the captain of the team who coincidentally will be celebrating on the day.
Daniel said: “Wednesday is the birthday of our captain and I’m very optimistic that he will help me score goals to win the game.
“This is because the only appreciable gift I can give him is the goal as the Lord helped me to give my best.”
NAN reports that both teams have met four times in competitive matches and both teams have won twice each. This is the fifth time the two gladiators of the Southwest will meet in the NNL.
Which team will win this time around? This is a rhetorical question that will be answered at the end of the 90 minutes of play.
