The Benue State House of Assembly on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of the Directors of General Services and Administration of the 23 Local Government Areas of the state as Sole Administrators.
The confirmation followed a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Tony Ijohor, and read by the Speaker, Terkimbi Ikyange.
The assembly confirmed the list without debate after a motion moved by the member representing Katsina-Ala East Constituency, Ianna Jato.
Jato said the appointment was in line with the law as amended in the Section 21 of the constitution which states that tenures of sole administrators should not exceed six months.
He said: “It further states that if after the six months, local government elections were not conducted, new sole administrators would be appointed again pending the conduct of the elections.”
