The Bayelsa House of Assembly has confirmed the Governor Seriake Dickson’s Commissioner nominee, Ibarakumo Otobo, into the state executive council.
Moving the motion for confirmation of Otobo in Yenagoa on Tuesday after his screening, the Majority Leader, Peter Akpe, described the nominee as a front-line youth leader.
Konbowei Benson, Speaker of the House, urged the commissioner designate to work out modalities to ensure effective development of youths in the state.
Benson explained that carrying youths along in the scheme of things would guarantee peaceful coexistence.
In his response, the commissioner designate, after his confirmation, promised to work assiduously to ensure that youths were empowered through skills acquisition.
Benson said that he would engage youths on regular programmes that would take them out of social vices in order to curb crimes, among them.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the commissioner designate had previously served as Special Assistant to Governor Dickson on Youth Matters and was the Coordinator, Bayelsa Volunteer Service.
