Some youths in Bauchi State on Thursday threw stones at the campaign convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan.
The President was in Bauchi as part of his presidential campaign rally.
Earlier this week, the convoy of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation was also attacked in Katsina.
The police arrested 24 youths over the attack.
In Bauchi on Thursday at the Ibrahim Babangida Square, venue of the rally, angry youths pelted dignitaries with hammer, stones and slippers among other things.
It was a herculean task for security operatives to disperse them.
The angry youths proclaimed the praises of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari, throughout the event.
Reacting to the development, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed, condemned the attitude of those he described as thugs, who were suspected to have been sponsored to disrupt the PDP Presidential Campaign rally .
Mohammed, who expressed his disappointment in an interview with newsmen shortly after the incident, however called on PDP supporters not to retaliate.
He said: “I must be very honest with you, as a Nigerian and somebody who is very proud of our northern values and the values that we have imbibed from great Nigerians like Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, I am disappointed.
“I am so disappointed with the behaviour, with the pattern and the delivery of politics of chicanery, mischief, treachery and hatred shown here.
“You have seen what happened to me on stage.
“This is the price of politics and nation building that I must pay as a Nigerian.
“I am not disgraced.
“I am very proud of what happened to me and I will do it even if it will cost my life to make sure that Nigeria has deepened the spirit of liberty and freedom and of course nationalism, building bridges that our fore fathers started building with solid foundation.”
Mohammed called on the supporters of PDP not to retaliate, but continue to hold their heads high and be accommodating, adding that with the support of the people, the party will put a good fight in the February elections.
He added: “These are just pocket of mischief and treachery, but of course we know our popularity, we know the support that we have as Nigerians, sons and daughters of Bauchi, that are in PDP and indeed the presidential candidate, who is a good product.
“I call on the people, especially supporters of PDP, to continue to hold their heads high, to be accommodating and not to imbibe the culture of vengeance.
“That is what has brought us to leadership positions and we have been leading by the grace of God and with the support of the people.
“In leadership, you can be tested.
“Certainly this is the price of leadership that we must pay.”
