Barcelona are reportedly prepared to hand Lionel Messi a contract which would run until the end of his career.
Despite the forward possessing a release clause which allows him to leave on a free transfer next summer, president Josep Maria Bartomeu has suggested that he remains calm over his future.
According to reports in Spain, that may be due to the Catalan giants indicating that they are ready to hand Messi a new long-term deal.
While the 32-year-old holds a desire to represent Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina, Barcelona are allegedly confident that they can keep the club legend at Camp Nou for the rest of his career.
The report suggests that the La Liga champions also want to see Messi stay at the club once he has hung up his boots.
