Governor Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara has urged security agencies in the state to fish out criminals.
Yari made the call on Wednesday at Goran-Namaye village in Maradun Local Government Area while sympathising with the victims of recent bandits attack in the village.
The governor said that in spite of the commitments of the state government to improve security in the state, bandits were still terrorising communities in the state.
He said: “It is very unfortunate in spite of all the logistics we are providing to security agencies in the state and bandits are still killing my people.
“I give you one week to bring out the attackers of the communities.”
He blamed the security situation over shortage of security personnel in the area, saying that the area had only one police outpost.
The governor also urged police to provide more police outposts in the area to check the activities of criminals in the area.
In his remarks, Alhaji Yahaya Chado, thanked the governor for the visit and measures taken so far by the state government to improve security in the area.
Earlier, the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Muhammad Tambari, complained over shortage of security personnel in the area.
NAN reports that the governor donated N1million to each families of the deceased and N250, 000 each to those that sustained injuries during the attack.
NAN recalls that unknown bandits on Sunday, January 21, kidnapped two children of a member of House of Representatives representing Bakura/Maradun Federal Constituency of the state and killed six persons.
