Bi-Courtney boss, Dr. Wale Babalakin, on Monday submitted himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, sources have said.
Babalakin, who has been charged to court by the EFCC for allegedly laundering N4.7 billion for a former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, reported to the commission after leaving the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital where he has been receiving treatment for a sudden illness.
The illness had stalled the trial of Babalakin twice.
The trial was scheduled to have taken off at a Lagos High Court.
Babalakin, Alex Okoh and Bi-Courtney were charged for laundering money for Ibori under the guise of buying a aircraft.
But the prominent lawyer, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, headed to the Federal High Court seeking an order to restrain the EFCC from prosecuting him.
The court, presided over by Justice Mohammed Idris, refused to grant his prayer.
It asked him to go face trial for the alleged offence.
Another suit before Justice Ibrahim Buba, also of the Federal High Court, suffered the same fate.
The Lagos State High Court has fixed January 17, 2012 for Babalakin’s arraignment.
He is expected to stand trial before Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo.
When he reported to the EFCC on Monday, Babalakin was quizzed by the operatives of the commission and then granted administrative bail.
