Defending champions of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Falcons, have been drawn in Group B alongside South Africa, Zambia and Kenya for the 9th edition of the tournament.
Ghana’s women’s football legends, Adjoa Bayor and Memunatu Sulemana, assisted CAF Deputy General Secretary Anthony Baffoe to conduct the draw at the ceremony at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra on Sunday.
The Nigerian girls will open their campaign against eternal rival, South Africa, on November 17, just as their group opponents Zambia and Kenya will also battle same day.
In Group A of the tournament, Hosts Ghana will vie for the semifinals ticket against Algeria, Mali and Cameroon.
Host Ghana and holders Nigeria were named top seeds ahead of the draw for the tournament.
Ghana’s Black Queens are seeded in Group A with position A1, whilst Nigeria headlines Group B by virtue of being holders and the most successful team in the history of the biennial competition, having won it eight times.
