Atletico Madrid have confirmed the signing of 19-year-old Joao Felix from Benfica on a seven-year deal for £113 million.
The Portuguese forward was being chased by several top clubs across Europe, including Manchester United and City, but Atletico have won the race for his signature.
The fee is actually above the 19-year-old’s £107.5 million release clause, with Atleti keen to pay in instalments rather than as a lump sum.
The teenager scored 15 goals last season, including a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, despite only making his senior debut in August.
He made his international bow for Portugal in the victory over Switzerland in the Nations League semi-finals earlier this month.
Atletico are expected to receive £107 million for Antoine Griezmann when the forward eventually seals a move to Barcelona.
