The founder and President of the Asabe Shehu Yar’Adua Foundation, Dr. Asabe Shehu Yar’Adu, has received the Sir Ahmadu Bello Platinum Award as “Icon of Greater Nigeria”.
The award was presented to the recipient at a ceremony recently by the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria.
At the event, the group, led by the Vice President (National Affairs) of the council, Barr. Farouk Mohammed, noted that NYCN is the apex body of youths cutting across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, the youths have been involved several activities, including promoting harmonious relationship among different ethnic groups in parts of northern Nigeria, youth empowerment and support for vulnerable groups, among others.
He appealed to the Asabe Shehu Yar’Adua Foundation to partner with youth organisation to better the lives of young people in northern Nigeria.
Responding, the award recipient, represented by the Abuja Liaison Officer of the foundation, Comrade James Ezema, pledged the Foundation’s readiness to work with the youth group to ensure that their vision for young people is fulfilled.
Ezema said: “The foundation has been involved in several activities in different parts of Africa, especially in Nigeria and other countries in West African subregion, torching lives of vulnerable members of local communities, including women and children, putting smiles on their faces.
“So, the foundation will surely support your activities and partner with you to ensure that your vision is fulfilled.”
The award was in recognition and appreciation of the immense contributions of Dr. Asabe Shehu Yar’Adu “towards youth empowerment, philanthropy, human transformation, education development, and prudent management of resources for the benefit of humanity and the country”.
