The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on Wednesday issued a bench warrant on a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Gombe State, Ibrahim Usman, over failure to appear before the tribunal.
Ibraheem Al-hassan, the Head of Press and Media Relations of the CCT, in a statement in Abuja said the warrant was issued following application made by the prosecution counsel, Shade Nwobi.
The Attorney General of the Federation had filed the suit challenging the accused over failure to declare his assets as a public officer.
The statement said that Nwobi had applied for the bench warrant following failure of the accused to appear before the tribunal after properly being served and acknowledged.
It said Justice Danladi Umar, the Chairman of the CCT, in his ruling issued the warrant on the accused for failing to appear after proper service had been effected on him.
The statement said: “The evidence before the tribunal showed that the accused has been properly served.
“Having been served and refused to appear, a bench warrant is accordingly issued on the accused.
“By the warrant, the accused is to be arrested and brought before the tribunal on May 28 to commence his trial.”
