The Plateau State House of Assembly has urged the State Government through the State Universal Basic Education to reconsider its decision to sack religious instructors.
The government, according to the legislators, is to sack religious instructors who are teaching in primary schools without the National Certificate of Education.
Peter Dasun in a motion at plenary on Wednesday urged SUBEB not to fire them but give the teachers time to acquire the certificate.
Dasun said the teachers should be given enough time to attend the training and obtain the requisite NCE.
The House after deliberations supported the motion and agreed to forward its resolution to the state government for consideration.
Meanwhile, the House, presided over by the Speaker, Abok Ayuba, deliberated on a bill to establish the Plateau State Geographic Information System.
The bill seeks to establish a board that will ensure effective management of special data, transforming the process of lands administration in a digital environment.
The bill, which passed through second reading, would enhance the revenue generation capacity of the state.
The House mandated its committee on land to take the bill for public hearing and lay its report on March 15.
Also during the plenary, the property and land based consolidation and physical planning urban and regional development regulatory bills passed second reading.
The House, thereafter, adjourned legislative work till February 25.
