The Oyo State House of Assembly on Monday commended the Police for the prompt arrest of four suspects in connection with the murder of a member of the legislature, Gideon Aremu.
Olusegun Olaleye, the Chairman of the House Committee on Labour and Productivity, gave the commendation when he addressed newsmen after the police paraded the four suspects in Ibadan.
Olaleye said the arrest of the suspects within a short period showed how pragmatic the police in the state was.
He said: “Their arresting the suspects has strengthened public confidence in them.
“Protection of lives and property of the residents will continue to be priority of the state government.”
Those paraded were Adeniran Oladapo, 31; Ayobami Adedeji, 23; Kareem Isiaka, 43; and Sodiq Adedeji, 20.
Aremu, who was the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Relations and Security, was shot dead onJuly 1.
Aremu was a member of the Labour Party and had represented Orelope constituency.
