Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna kicked off 2025 with a significant victory on Thursday by defeating British champion Liam Pitchford 3-1 in the Round of 32 at the WTT Star Contender Doha in Qatar.
The game, played at the Lusail Sports Arena, saw Pitchford secure the first set 12-10, but Aruna bounced back 11-9, 11-9, 11-9.
The win in the last three sets enabled him to pick the win and progress to the Round of 16.

Aruna will face Spain’s Alvaro Robles in the Round of 16 on Friday.
