Reports reaching The Eagle Online indicate that Nigerian music artistes, few days ago, tactically shunned the candle light procession held in honour of the slain singer, Damilola Olaniyan, better known as Damino Damoche.
The procession, which took place in Agege area of Lagos State, the home of the parents of the late artiste, had no single artist in attendance.
It was attended mainly by the students of the Lagos State University and family members.
It would be recalled that at his burial in Badagry, Lagos State, no artiste showed up.
It was equally only witnessed by his colleagues from the university.
This was unlike the burial or pre-burial ceremonies of other late artistes such Pa Enebeli Elebuwa, Goldie and the most recent of Pa Justus Esiri.
It was celebration galore in their honour and attended by their colleagues in the movie and music industries.
Esiri’s candle light procession, which took place around Western Avenue, Surulere, Lagos State, was classic as the event had a high influx of Nigerians, aside the Actors Guild of Nigerian members, who were very visible.
Goldie’s candle light procession, which took place at Falomo, Ikoyi, Lagos State, last Saturday, the same day with Olaniyan’s at Agege, was also filled to the brim with notable Nigerian artistes.
Those who attended included Denrele Edun, Ruggedman, Waje A Y Comedian and the Kennis Music crew.
And many are still wondering why artistes deliberately did not celebrate or honour Olaniyan in death as done to other late artistes.
