Premier League giants, Arsenal FC, have congratulated Alex Iwobi for sealing Nigeria’s place in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Iwobi, a second substitute ended Zambia’s with a low strike in the 73rd minute of the tie at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Nigeria won the group’s sole ticket with unassailable 13 points ahead of former African champions, Zambia, Cameroon and Algeria.
The Gunners took to Twitter to celebrate the Nigerian youngster.
“From coming through our academy to sending Nigeria to the World Cup. We’re all so proud of you, @alexiwobi,” the north London club tweeted.
An elated Iwobi via his Twitter handle, @AlexIwobi, wrote: “A dream come true…We’re heading to the World Cup. Nice to get the winning goal. Massive thanks to our fans.”
