The Nigerian Army’s Director of Chaplain Services, (Protestant), Brig.-Gen. Dawuk Danfulani, has advised leaders in the country to display Godlike attributes in carrying out their duties.
Danfulani made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday, at the end of a service for officers and men in Abalti Barracks, Lagos.
Danfulani said: “Those that know that they are in leadership and were (put) there by God should by all means make way to do the best.
“Every appointment is given by God and if God gives you an appointment and you abuse it, God himself will distance himself from you.
“And when God distances himself from you, you are on your own.
“They know that God made them to be there and if God made them to be there, the characters they should display in their various offices should be Godlike.
“Jesus did not establish Christianity; he established what we call a lifestyle so unique.
“And when people where living that unique life, they said these people are Christ like.
“And when they said they were Christ like, they were so unique.
“If we know that God made us like that; it’s not the religion, it’s not denomination, it’s not where you worship.
“It’s how you worship that matters most; understanding that good pattern of life, is what he wants everyone to put in place.
“Being a Christian, a Muslim, or whoever such a person claims to be, he is on earth by God.
“And if he practices very well, it may surprise you that some of those people you are hearing that are ethics or other religions, will go to heaven.
“You will say I’m a Christian and you will see them enter the kingdom of God while you are standing outside because they did what Christ did and what Christ is like.
“And when they get to heaven, you will be there and say I am Archbishop; I am G.O.; he will say I do not know you.”
The cleric urged leaders to show good leadership qualities through their actions.
