The Chief of Army staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai, has described the death of Senator Mustafah Bukar as a great loss to the nation.
Buratai, who was represented by Maj-Gen Mohammed Mohammed and other top military brass, made the remark at the residence of the deceased law maker in Daura on Friday.
He said the National Assembly especially the Senate would lose the legislative wisdom, capabilities and honest disposition of Bukar, stressing I know him very well.
He urged the family, Katsina state and the nation at large to bear the irreparable loss of the, “adding he was an astute engineer whose impact was legendary”.
He said: “The COAS would have been here personally but unfortunately he too lost his sister today.”
Responding, Engineer Abdullahi Bukar an elder brother to the deceased senator thanked the chief of Army staff for the visit.
He described the relationship between Bukar and the security agencies as exceptionally cordial.
Buratai said: “We remain grateful for his show of concern at our trying moment.”
NAN recalls that Bukar, representing Katsina North, died in Abuja on April 4 following a brief illness.
