The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspects in connection with the robbery attack on popular comedian, Basketmouth.
The Lagos State Police Command had on September 7, 2016 received a distress call from Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, that he has been robbed at gunpoint.
Subsequently the Command opened up investigation.
On November 16, 2016, the command arrested one Chiemele Joseph while carrying out armed robbery operation at Ilasa Maja area of the State.
Joseph’s arrest led to the arrest of another gang member, Chibuzor Ugwu, who further investigation revealed is the leader of the gang that attacked the comedian.
Items recovered from the suspects were one Beretta pistol, two locally made pistol, two AK 47 rifles loaded with ammunitions, 12 live cartridges, two iron cutters, master keys and one Mercedes 4matic Benz jeep.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, while parading the suspects, stated that the Command will continue to be on the trail of criminals within the state.
Owoseni warned them to eschew criminalty or relocate from Lagos.
He further reassured the residents of the state that their safety is guaranteed during this festive period.
The suspects will soon be charged to court.
