Arise TV host, Oseni Rufai, has condemned the lavish display of wealth at the burial of Obi Cubana’s mother on Friday, 16th.
Oseni stated that he isn’t stopping anyone from giving their loved ones a befitting burial but there’s a decent way of doing things and the way people sprayed money at Oba, during Obi Cubana’s mother’s burial, isn’t the way.
He further questioned the message such a display is sending to boys and young men.
He said: “Our nation has become all about money, all about materialism, all about showing people that you are rich and others that are poor, they can go and die.
“In the spirit of charity and throwing money on the floor for them to come pick it up.
“And please I am seeing a lot of arguments.
“This is not to denigrate a particular tribe.
“I have so much respect for Igbos because a lot of people are saying why is it that when Igbos do something and they spray money and people are shouting that Yorubas do the same.
“It is not a case of Yorubas and Igbos.
“It is a case of calling a spade a spade.
“What is wrong is wrong.
“We can’t build a society this way.
“Because what you have told a lot of youngsters growing up is that they too must make money and spray this way.
“We are celebrating a culture of materialism in the society.
“The society will lose its moral compass.
“I am not saying don’t bury your parents.
“Obi Cubana and the love of his mother.
“But there is a decent way of doing things in the society.
“Just for the records, same Friday, the who in who in this country were at Aig-Imoukhuede’s mother’s burial, we didn’t see Naira being flaunted.”
