The Petitions and Appeals Committee for the June 13 National Sports Federations Elections has so far received 20 petitions from 11 federations, an official said on Thursday in Abuja.
Tolu Makinde, the Director of Information, Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports, told the News Agency of Nigeria six of them were from the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
Makinde listed the other federations as those of table tennis, kick-boxing, gymnastics, cricket, weightlifting, volleyball, handball, judo, traditional sports and taekwondo.
He said: “All petitions have been submitted in accordance with the electoral guidelines.
“Also, all petitioners have paid the money set aside for them to pay. What is left now is for the committee to deliberate and take decisions on the matters, depending on the documents made available to the members.”
NAN reports that the guidelines stipulate that “all appeals shall be submitted with a non-refundable fee of N50,000 at the zonal level and N100,000 at the national level”.
