The Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria has appointed Barrister Bamidele Aturu as its legal adviser and consultant.
This was contained in a press statement on Wednesday.
Barrister Aturu has been asked to institute a legal process for the recovery of monies owed players and coaches amounting to over N250 million that has been decided by the Court of Arbitration for Sports and another N600 million, which is yet to be decided.
The move, according to the Union, is also aimed at enforcing the 2010 arbitration decision by the relevant football authorities, which include the diversion of over N41 million that meant for the payment of former players and coaches of Akwa United FC.
In a related development, the Union has equally informed the legal luminary to appeal against the life ban placed on players involved in the 146 goal match fixing saga, saying that the players involved were not giving fair hearing, just as most of them fall below the age of 17.
