The All Progressives Congress has set up a committee to consider the position of President Muhammadu Buhari that the party should annul the tenure extension granted to members of the party’s National Working Committee and other layers of executives.
This was revealed on Wednesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.
Abdullahi, who appeared on a radio programme on Ray Power, said the committee was set up based on divided opinion on the position of Buhari.
The President had on Tuesday at the National Executive Committee meeting of the party in Abuja said it was again the provisions of the party and the constitution of the country to grant such extension.
At the highest level, the extension affected the tenure of the NWC led by the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
Abdullahi said a debate on the issue led to a disagreement, hence the need for the setting up of the committee.
