The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has said the All Progressives Congress is non-existent in the state.
Uduaghan said the party has no presence in the state as it does not have a secretariat.
Speaking against the backdrop of the decision of the APC to challenge the outcome of the Delta Central Senatorial District bye-election, which the Peoples Democratic Party won, Uduaghan said a party without physical presence and which did not campaign could not have won the election.
Governor Uduaghan, during the Independent National Electoral Commission’s seminar in Asaba, wondered why APC that has no party secretariat and structures across the three senatorial districts of the state expected to win.
He was emphatic that APC prepared for violence but was shocked that security reports revealed their plots before the election.
He said: “APC only campaigned in Uvwie.
“The party should be good a loser for once.
“The party should be ready at all times to take responsibility for the success and failure of any election.
“A party that has no exco, no structure and no secretariat in Delta State wants to win an election.
“How election will be conducted and won is not by packing leaders and governors to one state for campaign few days to the election.”
According to Uduaghan, the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, alongside other governors and leaders of the APC were shocked that their party lost woefully in the election, hence they alleged that the ruling PDP used soldiers to scare away voters.
“They were simply blaming the security agents for preventing them from executing the violence they prepared for the election,” he insisted.
Uduaghan, however, assured stakeholders at the gathering, comprising chieftains of registered political parties, that his administration was ready to conduct council polls in the state as soon as Delta State Independent Electoral Commission announces the date.
He said, “Whatever we are supposed to do in terms of funding, we shall do.
“I will not interfere in the affairs of the commission.
“In fact, it is only the weak parties that do that.
“I am not the one to announce the date of the election.
“It is the duty of DSIEC to tell us when the election will hold.”
