Alhaji Umar Bello, has emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the newly- registered Alliance National Party for the 2019 elections in Adamawa.
Bello, popularly known in Adamawa political circle as “Mr Calculate”, was on Friday officially endorsed as the governorship candidate by 133 delegates who participated in the primaries in Yola.
Speaking at the occasion, the State Chairman of the party, Maimako Alahira, who lauded the delegates for a successful primaries said the party had found a popular and credible governorship candidate who knew Adamawa politics.
Alahira said that the party had already found similar popular candidates for the three senatorial, eight house of representatives and 25 house of assembly seats in the state.
In his acceptance speech, Bello thanked members of the party for the confidence reposed in him and urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to spring surprises in the 2019 general elections.
Bello said: “The major political parties have failed. We need to embark on house-to-house mobilisation of the electorate on our laudable development programmes for the state.
“We need to convince them on how we are going to make a difference.”
