Another serving senator has been linked with dreaded sect, Boko Haram.
The Joint Task Force in Borno State said on Friday that it had arrested a top leader of Boko Haram, Shuaibu Mohammed, and linked him to the house of the senator.
Described as “a high profile Boko Haram Commander who has been on the list of wanted terrorists operating between Bama and Maiduguri,” Mohammed was said by the JTF to have a link to “a serving senator’s house along Damboa Road, GRA Maiduguri.”
Mohammed was arrested, according to the JTF, at about 11am on Thursday.
Another serving senator, Mohammed Ndume, had earlier been linked with Boko Haram.
Ndume was alleged to be a sponsor of the dreaded sect.
In a related development, the JTF said it killed another commander of Boko Haram, Bin Walid, in Maiduguri on Friday.
Walid was reportedly killed “during an exchange of fire with troops.”
The JTF said it recovered “2 AK 47 Rifles, 55 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition (and) large quantity of Improvised Explosive Device materials” during what it termed a follow-up operation in Gwange area of Maiduguri.
