The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Tony Anenih, was on Wednesday night evasive about the reported resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
Anenih, who spoke briefly with newsmen after the BoT meeting of the PDP at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said the meeting was not a stormy one as envisaged.
The meeting was expected to be stormy because of the raging issue over the continued stay of Tukur as the party’s national chairman.
However, Anenih said it went peacefully.
He said: “It was very peaceful and we are very happy.”
Asked about fate of Tukur, Anenih said: “He attended BoT meeting as the national chair.”
Probed further if Tukur left the meeting as a former chairman, Anenih said: “I believe he left as the national chair.”
The National Executive Committee of the PDP is expected to meet this morning where it is anticipated the true status of Tukur in the party would be disclosed.
The PDP caucus had earlier met on Wednesday evening in the Presidential Villa.
The meeting lasted for about 30 minutes.
