As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prepares to hold supplementary election in Anambra state, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, Friday announced the restriction on human and vehicular movements in the two local government areas where the election will hold.
After declaring the November 16 governorship election in the state inconclusive, INEC said supplementary election will hold on Saturday, November 30 in 210 polling units in Idemili North and Onitsha South local governments.
According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, the restriction would start at midnight on Friday and end at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
He explained that the restriction was necessary to ensure a hitch free conduct of the supplementary election.
Prof Chukwuemeka, also enjoined travellers passing through the state to find alternative routes during the period.
In the same vein, he warned politicians and other individuals not to move about with security officials, saying “anybody who flouts this order will be arrested and prosecuted”.
According to him, “These measures are geared toward a hitch-free conduct of election in the state on the aforementioned dates.”
