Africa Magic in association with MultiChoice recently hosted celebrity movie stars and film directors from Hollywood ahead of the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards ceremony.
One of the Hollywood stars hosted before the May 14, 2022 colourful AMVCA event was Nigerian-born Bayo Akinfemi.
Akinfemi was born and raised in Ilesa, Nigeria.
He obtained a B.A. in Performing Arts from University of Ilorin before moving to Toronto, where he studied Film and Television Production and worked for several years as an actor and a director before moving to Los Angeles.
A two-time Best Actor GEMINI awards nominee for Human Cargo and The Border, he is currently a series regular on Bob Hearts Abishola, a CBS/Warner Bros sitcom going into its fourth season.
He’s also the dialect coach and culture consultant for the show.
Akinfemi’s acting credits include Marvel’s Agents of Shield, Criminal Minds, NCIS LA and Survivor’s Remorse.
He is also a director.
His credits include an episode of Bob Hearts Abishola; a short film, titled: Rump and Nollywood; feature films Busted Life and Paparazzi: Eye in the Dark.
An avid theatre director with extensive credits, he holds a Master’s degree in Cinema and Media Studies from University of Southern California, where he currently works as an Assistant Professor of Practice: Acting and Directing in the Schools of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts.
While in Nigeria, Akinfemi was a guest at the first AMVCA runway show.
He also attended the Digital Content creators brunch, where he interacted with Nigerian content creators.
At the “Hollywood Meets” brunch, Akinfemi sat on a panel discussion, where he regaled guests with stories of his rise to fame, before attending the Nominees gala held that night.
On Saturday, he was at the AMVCA ceremony, where he and other guests witnessed the breathtaking event organised by Africa Magic and MultiChoice.
