Super Eagles skipper, Joseph Ikpo Yobo, has warned that Wednesday’s Nations Cup qualifier against Wasp of Rwanda will not be an easy encounter for Nigeria.
Yobo, who led 18 other stars to a hot midday training in Abuja on Monday, in readiness for the Nations Cup qualifier against the Wasps of Rwanda, has declared that the team does not expect any free points in Kigali from the Rwandans.
He said: “There is no small team again in the entire world let alone Africa. So we have absolute respect for the Rwandan team but we are going there with a plan to win and they also have their plans.
“The only thing I would tell Nigerians is that we would not disappoint them, but we are also not expecting an easy game.”
Yobo praised the level of readiness of the home lads he met on ground and said the coaching crew has shown that there are millions of Nigerian footballers who can break into the national team.
“He may not have invited all the foreign-based professionals but what we have seen here so far is very encouraging and we can build on it for the future.”
On his part, Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, simply told the players that he expects excellent teamwork in the game against Rwanda.
Keshi said: “As you well have known, this team does not have any superstar or an average player, we are all stars here.
“But the real stars in the team are those who go into the pitch to prove to the coaches that they are good and after that we will embrace.
“The match in Kigali is key and must be approached with all seriousness.
“No army likes to be defeated in war and that is the spirit I want in the squad.”
The Eagles were scheduled to leave Abuja for Kigali on Monday night for the Nations Cup qualifier scheduled for Wednesday in the Rwandan capital.
