The Federal Executive Council will on Wednesday receive the report of the committee constituted by the Federal Government to review the SERVICOM Initiative.
SERVICOM, which is the acronym for service compact for all Nigerians, is a social contract between the Federal Government and the people to give Nigerians the right to demand for good service, particularly the charter detailing what the public should expect and what to do if service is not rendered according to expectation.
President Goodluck Jonathan had last March, approved the constitution of a committee on service delivery with a mandate to review the SERVICOM Initiative and recommend funding mechanism aimed at re-energizing the SERVICOM Office.
The FEC meeting, to be presided over by President Jonathan at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, is expected to deliberate on the committee’s recommendations and give approval, to make the SERVICOM initiative more functional.
Other items on the agenda slated for discussion in Wednesday’s meeting include contract for the design and construction of fast moving security patrol boats (FPB) for the Lagos pilotage district.
Minister of Transport, Idris Umar, who is expected to present the contract for a 17M and 32M Manta MK ASD boat, would solicit the support of the FEC for approval to procure additional 4 fast moving 40 to 45 passengers waterbus as well as the contract for the purchase of three security fast-moving boats.
The minister is also expected to present the memo requesting members’ approval to procure 12/10 cutter suction dredger with ancillary equipment as well as the contract for the reclamation of Abam-Nnuju-Igbiri-Oba-Ojimba-okujagu-Ama water front and the back swamps; as well as resident supervision consultancy services for the reclamation works.
