The Senate on Thursday confirmed the nomination of Dr. Abdul Malik Mohammed Durnnguwa as one of the Commissioners for the National Population Commission after the verification of alleged questionable West African Examinations Council result.
The Senate had rejected the nominee last week over questionable WAEC result.
The lawmakers mandated the Senate Committee on National Identity Card and National Population to look into the matter.
Presenting the report for consideration, 5)3 Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi-led Committee cleared Dr. Abdul, informing the Senate that the Ministry of Education in Katsina State and his secondary school have confirmed his WAEC result.
Although, the Minority Leader of the Senate, Abiodun Olujinmi, protested against discrepancies in Curriculum Vitae, she was overruled as the lawmakers confirmed the nomination for Dr. Abdul for confirmation at the National Population Commission.
Last week, the Senate had confirmed 22 commissioners of the National Population Commission.
