Nigerian rapper, Sauce Kid, with friends, under the platform ‘The Breakfast Parlour’, recently paid a visit to ‘The Destitutes’ Home’ in Oko Baba, Ebute Metta, Lagos, where they met with over 2000 less-privileged people.
The Destitutes’ Home was built over 14 years ago by the administration of the then Military Governor of Lagos State, Buba Marwa, to house homeless people.
However, a lot of things seem to have gone wrong, as they are now abandoned.
The government sends in food once in a while, some of the leaders of the Home said.
The Sauce Kid-led crew interacted with the blind, lepers, crippled and shared food, cloth and other items with the ‘Okobaba 2000’.
“We hope to create and spread awareness about The Destitutes’ Home, Oko Baba via blogs, social networks and every available platform till they get an upgrade,” Sauce Kid said.
The Breakfast Parlour is an SMG and G Muzik Initiative to create awareness about homeless people and their problems and is supported by Phoenix and Omalicha of Rhythm 93.7 FM, Gbemi and Toolz of Beat 99.9 FM as well as Sauce Kid.
