The police on Wednesday arraigned a plumber, Abdusalam Sa’ad, of
Kabusa village, Abuja, in a Karu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for
allegedly biting off another man’s ear.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Edet, told the court that one
Ifeanyi Anisiobi of Kabusa village, Abuja reported the matter at the
Apo Division Police station on August 6.
Edet said that Sa’ad bit off Anisiobi’s ear during an argument without any provocation.
According to Edet, the complainant is currently receiving treatment at Zawo Clinic, Kabusa, Abuja.
The prosecutor said that the offence committed by Sa’ad contravened
Section 241 of the Penal Code.
Sa’ad, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum.
Kagarko said the surety should be a responsible citizen, who had no
criminal record and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case to October 2 for hearing.
