Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has been called upon to as a matter of concern come to the rescue of the state’s health workers by paying off their outstanding salaries.
The outstanding were owed by the government of former Governor Jonah Jang.
This call was made on Friday as Medical Health Workers of Qua’anpan Local Government Area of Plateau State said they have been living without salaries for over two years.
The workers alleged that biometrics data capturing initiated by Jang during his second tenure was ineffective and a grand design to witch hunt them and siphon money.
One of the workers said: “Over 100 staff of Qua’anpan Local Government Area have up till now not been captured.”
A group of concerned stakeholders who cried out said: “Jang in his second tenure introduced a biometrics capture but has failed to effect change and a good number of us in the work force till date are still counting our loses.”
The Eagle Online was also told that the biometrics was a conduit pipe by the former governor to siphon public fund into private use and an agenda to reduce the number of civil servants and replace them with his kinsmen.
There is also the allegation of illegal transfers of civil servants to their own local government areas of origin.
Despite the two months salary payment by the state government, there are many who are still hoping and praying for their plight to be addressed by the present administration.
