Hon. Rotimi Makinde, the Fiwagboye Balogun of Ila-Oragun, Osun State and member of the House of Representatives, has said that his move to get married to a 23-year-old university undergraduate, Oyebanke Oyelami, has been a blessing to him.
Narrating what he felt before meeting Oyelami, a beauty pageant, to The Eagle Online, Makinde said: “I’ve been comfortable before I dabbled into politics but along the line, things have gone sour as many of my businesses crumbled.”
The Ifewara, Osun State born politician further maintained that it was during his “hard” period that the disloyalty of his former wife, Bolaji, came to the fore.
He said: “Her secret oil and gas business and building project was later exposed, which she has been doing without my knowledge.
“Therefore, for anybody to say to say I abandoned my former wife (Bolaji) upon attaining my present political position is unfair to God.”
The former accountant with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation said Bolaji left her matrimonial home long before his electoral victory in Osun State.
