The Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, has commended Atiku Abubakar on his recent elevation from the title of Turaki Adamawa to Waziri Adamawa.
Governor Ortom’s message is the latest in the series of goodwill messages that have poured out to the former Vice President of Nigeria and All Progressives Congress chieftain since last month when he was given the new title by HRH, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, the Lamido of Adamawa.
In a congratulatory letter to Abubakar, Ortom described the honour as evidence of the Waziri’s enormous contributions and commitment to the preservation and promotion of the cultural and traditional values of not only Adamawa State people, but also every ethnic nationality he has come in contact with.
He said: “In Tivland, your similar contributions have earned you the title of Zege Mule U Tiv,” Governor Ortom said. “Your relentless devotion and determination towards ensuring peace and development in Adamawa has significantly stood you out for this most esteemed position and we see it as another opportunity for the Adamawa people to benefit from your outstanding leadership qualities.”
The Zege Mule U Tiv title, which Abubakar currently holds, is the highest title to be accorded a non-indigene of the Tiv Kingdom.
“We pray that the Almighty God bless you and grant you wisdom to discharge the responsibilities of your new position,” Governor Ortom said.
The turbaning event for the new Waziri will take place in Adamawa State at a date yet to be announced.
