The board of the Nigeria Premier League has congratulated Jude Aneke of Warri Wolves Football Club on the occasion of his decoration with the prestigious Sun Man of the Year Award today at the Eko Hotels in Lagos.
The former Kaduna United prolific forward will be conferred with the award of excellence alongside other prominent Nigerians from various walks of life for their outstanding contributions to the development of the nation last year, 2011.
He was painstakingly chosen for the award of Nigeria’s Sportsman of the Year for scoring 20 goals last season to set an all-time record in the history of Nigerian Professional League.
Chairman of the NPL, Chief Victor Rumson Baribote, described Aneke as a quality product from a quality brand, stressing that the award represents “an excellent reward for hard work.”
The NPL boss urged the goal king to see the award as a stepping stone to greater heights.
“On behalf of the board of the Nigeria Premier League, I heartily congratulate Jude Aneke on his conferment with the prestigious Sportsman of the Year Award in recognition of his record performance in the Nigerian League last season. We all know that The Sun Man of the year Award is meant for Nigerians who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the nation in their various calling,” the NPL boss noted.
“Jude Aneke is a quality product from a quality brand which the Nigerian League represents. I urge him to see the award as a stepping stone to greater heights,” Baribote added.
