Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club of Ilorin on Wednesday defeated visiting Aklosendi International FC of Lafia by a lone goal.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Match Day 8 fixture in the Nigeria National League was played at the Kwara Stadium Complex in Ilorin.
In the fifth minute, Jerry Sudar scored what looked like the first goal but the referee had earlier spotted an infringement.
Abubakar Chindo had a fantastic effort on target in the ninth minute but Aklosendi’s Job Mathew was well-positioned then and dealt well with the midfielder’s chance.
Three minutes later, a miscommunication between Mathew and Mohammed Ali almost resulted in ABS FC’s first goal of the game when Golden Udoinyang rounded the goalkeeper but yet couldn’t score.
ABS FC’s goalkeeper Nurudeen Mudasir did well to punch Jmar Abdulazeez’s corner kick in the 18th minute as both teams pressed high in search of a goal.
Aklosendi’s defender Orende Orende was a handful for ABS FC as he was always thwarting the Saraki Boys’ well-arranged attack.
Chindo completed an ABS FC attacking build-up when he received the ball on the far left and curled the ball into the top corner of the goal for the lone goal in the 31st minute.
Udoinyang would have doubled the lead three minutes later but his effort went inches wide.
Both sides restarted the game brightly and there was always a supremacy battle for the game in the middle of the pack.
The visitors defended well to deny the hosts another goal for most of the second stanza of the game.
