Flights to Kaduna airport have been temporarily suspended following a fire incident which affected the tower, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency said in a statement on Monday.
The statement was issued by Supo Atobatele, the General Manager and Public Relations Officer of NAMA.
It said the agency had already issued NOTAM (Notice To Air Men) to that effect, informing the operating airlines locally and across the globe of the development.
It said NAMA’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Abdulsalam, had directed the immediate deployment of the agency’s mobile tower currently at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to Kaduna.
The statement said the measure was to ensure resumption of normal services at Kaduna airport by sunset on Monday.
The statement said: “All the personnel on duty were safely evacuated.
“There is no cause for alarm as we are on top of the situation, our mobile tower is capable of handling normal traffic as it is well equipped with necessary ATC console to do that.”
