Mo Farah, Allyson Felix and Justin Gatlin are among the athletes to have been nominated for Laureus World Sports Awards.
A total of seven track and field athletes have been shortlisted across the range of awards categories.
Britain’s Farah, who won his 10th global track title with 10,000m gold at last summer’s IAAF World Championships in London, is nominated for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award, while USA’s 16-time world sprint medallist Felix and South Africa’s three-time world 800m gold medallist Caster Semenya are both in the running in the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year category.
Nominees in the Laureus World Comeback of the Year category include Australia’s world 100m hurdles champion Sally Pearson, who battled back after serious injury, and USA’s world 100m champion Gatlin.
The winners, as voted for by members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, will be announced in Monaco on February 27. The shortlists were compiled following a ballot by the world’s sports media.
