The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, on Sunday described the late former Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lam Adesina, as a great leader and illustrious son of Oyo State.
Akinjide stated this during a condolence visit to the wife of the former governor, Alhaja Saratu Adesina.
She noted that the deceased worked across party lines for the benefit of the people and Oyo State.
She said: “The late Adesina played a pivotal role in the start of my political career.
“He was instrumental to the start of my political career.
“He will be greatly missed by the people of Oyo State and Nigeria in general.
“Please accept my sincere condolences over the death of our father, Alhaji Lam Adesina.
“I pray for divine courage for every member of the family.”
Alhaja Adesina, who expressed gratitude to the minister for finding time to empathize with the family, advised political parties to eschew rancour and work for the betterment of the state and Nigeria.
She said: “We are all brothers and sisters because we are all related.
“The desire of my late husband is for all parties in Oyo State to work together for the good of the people and the state despite their political differences.
“Our leaders should work for the interest of the people and the nation.
“We will all be happy if the living condition of the people improves.
“It is my prayer that we won’t die young.
“We shall live long and fulfill the plan and purpose of Allah.”
