The Kaduna Airport remodelling project will be completed in three months, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has said.
The airport, which was among the first 11 airports scheduled for remodelling under the transformation agenda of the Federal Governmentm being championed by the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah, has undergone dramatic change recently, FAAN said in a statement.
The contractor handling the project at the last inspection by the General Manager, Corporate Communications of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Hon Yakubu Dati, has advanced about 80 per cent, and with the pace of work, it will be ready for commissioning in three months, a statement on Wednesday added.
FAAN said this was part of strategies in the Aviation Master Plan that also includes upgrade and development of dilapidated infrastructures, reformation of institutions, as well as the transformation of key airports into a network of domestic and international hubs.
Meanwhile operations at the airport has been shifted to the Hajj terminal, which was built under the administration of Oduah and commissioned by the Sultan of Sokoto in December, 2011 pending the completion of construction at the airport, which will on completion boast of world class lounges, conveniences, etc.
On completion, the airport will form a major hub with the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
FAAN said this will help to boost the economy of the state as well as increase the nation’s GDP.
